Colombian singer and songwriter Shakira is making her debut in the publishing world.

Nov. 24, 2010: Shakira performs at the Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona, Spain. The Singers imitator "Shakiro" has gained via Facebook and YouTube, where his videos have been seen 239,160 times.

The hip shaking singer wrote a book entitled "Dora the Explorer in the International Day of School Adventure." In the children's take, Dora goes on multiple adventures with her partner, Boots, in an effort to collect school supplies and other needed materials that schools lack.

“Dora is an inspiration for all the children in the world, including myself. It was an honor to work with Nickelodeon to write this story since education is a cause dear to my heart,” Shakira `said`, according to a press release from publishing firm Grupo Editorial Norma, which published the book.

The pop star also `said` that she wants “children of all parts of the world to know that through knowledge and education one can embark in great adventures.”

Profits from the book, a hard cover edition, with bright, eye catching illustrations, will be donated to the “Pies Descalzos” foundation, Shakira’s non-profit organization whose mission is to make sure children receive an education early on.

“Working with Shakira to create a rich and educative tale has been an extraordinary experience,” `said` Paula Allen, who works for Nickelodeon’s Consumer Products (NCP).

The Barranquilla pop-star Shakira published her first children's book "World School Day Adventure," El Tiempo reports on Thursday.

The book, part of Nickelodeon's "Dora the Explorer" series, tells the story of Dora and her companion Boots who deliver school supplies to those schools that do not have them.

Shakira wants "the children from all over the world to know that through knowledge and education one can embark on great adventures."

"Dora is an inspiration for all children in the world. It was an honor working with Nickelodeon to write this story as education is a cause very close to my heart," the Colombian singer added.

"Working with Shakira to create an educational and enriching story has been an extraordinary experience," Paula Allen from Nickelodeon `said`.

A percentage of the royalties will go to Shakira's Pies Descalzos Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to the education of children.
